Mr. Hannon began his career as an associate with N. Perry Moerdyke Jr. between 1975 and 1981 before advancing to become a partner in 1982. From 1984 to 1986, he worked as a partner with Attwood, Hurst, Knox & Anderson. During this time, he found success at his private practice, which he maintained from 1975 to 1997. From 1997 to his retirement in 2021, Mr. Hannon excelled as an appointed U.S. administrative law judge in the field of social security administration.
Mr. Hannon began his studies at the University of Santa Clara from 1966 until 1968. He then attended the University of Vienna in 1968 and 1969 before returning to Santa Clara from 1969 until June 1970. In 1974, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Santa Clara, where he continued his studies to earn a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1974. Licensed to practice law by the State Bar of California and the District of Columbia Bar, Mr. Hannon has been admitted to practice law before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of California.
Furthering his education, Mr. Hannon accrued a master's degree in military history in 2015 and a Master of Laws in 2017. Currently, he is completing coursework as a PhD candidate at the University of Nevada, Reno. Mr. Hannon has likewise maintained his affiliation with the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the University of Santa Clara Law Alumni Association, the Santa Clara University National Alumni Association and Kiwanis International.
Additionally, Mr. Hannon celebrates a prolific military career. Between 1979 and 2008, he served as a captain of the U.S. Naval Reserve. During this time, he excelled as an admiral of the Texas Navy in 1998 and an appellate military judge for the Navy Corps, Marine Corps and the Court of Criminal Appeals from 2006 to 2007. Since 2009, he has been active as a colonel with the California State Military Reserve. Through his naval career, Mr. Hannon is gratified to have been introduced to many inspirational lawyers, with whom he had traveled the world.
In addition to his professional career, Mr. Hannon garnered expertise as an arbitrator with the Santa Clara Municipal County and the Santa Clara County Superior Court, an instructor at De Anza Junior College from 1987 to 1997 and a lecturer at Lincoln Law School from 1988 to 1997. He was further recruited as a force judge advocate for Operation Bright Star in 2003. Mr. Hannon formerly flourished as the treasurer of the San Jose Veterans Memorial Committee from 1996 to 1999 and contributed to the Menlo Park Housing Commission from 1979 to 1981.
