Inspired by her love of art and supported by an expertise in computers, math, and science, Ms. Combs pursued a degree in graphic design. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in computer graphics/multimedia from Millikin University and Marycrest International University in Iowa, she received a Master of Science in instructional design and technology from Western Illinois University. Upon graduating, she gained valuable expertise in the field of graphic design before joining John Deere in 2008. Through her previous work, Ms. Combs developed skills outside of her direct role; this has allowed her to excel through various positions at John Deere.
Over the span of her career, Ms. Combs worked as a technical illustrator, JDU administrator, curriculum developer, parts catalog editor, and customer/product support business analyst at John Deere before obtaining her current position. As a product owner, Ms. Combs' focus is on leading and supporting activities to enhance John Deere dealers' user experience with Deere applications. This includes thorough analysis of global dealer and customer needs, the definition of requirements, and development of solutions. She sets priorities for the product team to ensure they are working on the most desirable, high-value features. Ms. Combs represents the "voice of the customer" at the team level. Eminently qualified in her field, Ms. Combs furthered her virtuosity by earning a UX certificate through Nielsen Norman Group in 2020. Additionally, she was officially recognized as a Product Owner and Scrum Master endorsed by Scrum, Inc. in 2020.
Ms. Combs aligns herself with the Golden Key National Honor Society because of her passion to remain aware of changes in the field. Outside of her work, she volunteers for the National Stearman Fly-in and donates to several animal-related organizations including local animal shelters. Ms. Combs likes spending time with her nephew, hosting game nights with friends, bowling, dancing, going out to live events, and exploring new places. She has lived and worked in Illinois and Iowa and traveled internationally to India, Germany, and France. In light of her professional excellence, she was named to the Worldwide Registry for Entrepreneurs and Executives in 2015. In the coming years, Ms. Combs intends to continue to honor her strong work ethic, strive to learn each day, and achieve her career goals. She wishes to retire early, so that she can dedicate more time for creative projects, traveling, and enjoying time with her family and friends.
