ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL, June 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Diane C. Kachmar has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. For 35 years, Ms. Kachmar has provided assistance and support to the campus libraries of Florida Atlantic University. She began her career in 1982 as an assistant university librarian before earning promotion to associate status. Shortly thereafter, she established herself as a full university librarian until her retirement in 2017. In this position, Ms. Kachmar served as the Branch Manager of the North Campus Library and the weekend supervisor of the Fort Lauderdale Campus Library. After that, she found continued success as the Order Librarian and Monographic Acquisitions Librarian for the remaining twenty-six years of her career.
While coming of age, Ms. Kachmar had always excelled in the subjects of English and writing. Although she did not desire a career as a schoolteacher, she did explore other options to which she could apply this expertise. Ms. Kachmar obtained an Associate of Arts from Palm Beach State College in 1978 and continuing her education at Florida State University, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1980 and a Master of Library Science in 1981.
Ms. Kachmar is proud to have authored three books during her career at Florida Atlantic University. Moreover, she is credited with saving the university a great deal of money by successfully managing the library's monographic budget. Additionally, Ms. Kachmar was deeply invested into the broader community as the Florida Atlantic University United Way Coordinator from 2011 to 2016.
Throughout her career, Ms. Kachmar maintained memberships with the American Library Association, the Southeast Library Association, the Southeast Library Information Network, the Florida Library Association and the Palm Beach County Library Association, of which she was Vice President and President from 1988 to 1990. In honor of her contributions, she was presented with various certificates of appreciation from the American Library Association. She was awarded the SEFLIN Vista Service Award in 2003.
