Having taught her first fifteen years in Southern California, Mrs. Snider continued to spend nearly four decades establishing herself as a career educator and learning specialist with the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. Within a school setting, she has also found success as a program manager and educational consultant. In this capacity, Ms. Snider has proven herself as an invaluable asset in the creation of resource room programs geared towards students who suffer from severe behavioral disorders.
Ms. Snider earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education, with a minor in social science, from San Diego State University in 1962. Long motivated to assist children with special needs, she went back to school and obtained a Master of Arts in special education and diagnostics from the University of California Riverside. In 1985, Ms. Snider graduated with a Master of Arts in administration and supervision from the University of San Francisco.
Eminently qualified in her field, Ms. Snider holds a cross-cultural, language and academic development certificate from the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. She is also certified as a life learning handicapped specialist and possesses the general elementary life credential and the administrative services preliminary credential. Ms. Snider actively maintains her membership with the California Retired Teachers Association.
In frequent leadership positions and as an active member of Beta Psi Chapter of the honorable educational society, Delta Kappa Gamma International. Mrs. Snider is proud to have provided aid to new teachers, as well as teachers who were in need of accompanying methodology. Through the fundraising efforts of Beta Psi chapter, her group was able to procure classroom items for her colleagues who otherwise not have had the opportunity to receive assistance. Beta Psi Chapter also provided scholarships for aspiring teachers. Moreover, Ms. Snider used her position to promote and establish programs in support of young students with behavioral issues.
In a career suffused with highlights, Ms. Snider is most proud to have managed a diagnostic center program, through which she provided assistance to students from all over the county who struggled in finding success in the classroom. She ran diagnostics, held conferences and provided support for the families and teachers of each student. It was Ms. Snider's goal to release them back to their respective classrooms as functioning learners, and she is most gratified to have successfully provided this format for six years.
Outside of her vocational circles, Mrs. Snider contributes regularly to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and various cancer groups, children's and veterans' groups, and animal rights groups. She was honored to have been recognized as the Teacher of the Year by the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. In addition, Ms. Snider is proud to have been included as part of Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Cambridge Who's Who and Strathmore's Who's Who.
