For nearly three decades, Dr. Weaver has found success as the owner of Voices Publishing in Vandalia, Ohio. Established in 1993, her independent publishing company has bestowed her with the opportunity to write and release several books, including "White to White on Black/White" and "To Change the Future, Change the Children!" She has also long served as a peer and adjunct faculty member of the master's and doctoral committees at the Union Institute, Antioch College, since 1993. Additionally, Dr. Weaver has worked as a human relations trainer and consultant since 1976, where she was involved in developing and co-facilitating race relations seminars in the U.S. for such clients as North Carolina State University, Northern Telecom and McDonalds, among others.
Dr. Weaver formerly spent more than 25 years in accounting. She also excelled as the owner of Weaver Accounting Services between 1965 and 1988, and previously gained expertise with A1 S. Iossi Company and Alex Kay and Associates as a staff accountant. Furthermore, she performed income tax preparation for Alan A. Wasmuth, Public Accountant. Dr. Weaver also briefly worked for the Dayton Daily News as a Vandalia correspondent for the Dayton Daily News.
A frequent speaker at numerous conferences and engagements, Dr. Weaver has also appeared on major television networks like PBS's Black Issues Forum and WHIO's Jackie Day Show. She was also a co-facilitator for the Race Relations Seminar, the Oprah Winfrey Show and Urban Potential, and was a racial analyst for the Phil Donahue Show with the Urban Crisis Center in Atlanta. Apart from her books, Dr. Weaver was chair of a committee that authored a 24-page booklet on Vandalia and Butler Township government.
In the 1970s, Dr. Weaver became involved locally when she helped to get an ordinance against discrimination passed. She became the first chairperson of the Vandalia Human Relations Commission in 1972 that was tasked with setting up the Speaker's Bureau, forming a support group and starting an annual poster contest for the schools. Dr. Weaver also became active with the League of Women Voters, founded and chaired the Vandalia unit of the Greater Dayton Area League of Women Voters, chaired the Ordinance Review Committee and the Vandalia-Butler Governmental Review Committee and, among other activities, chaired the Vandalia Human Relations Study Group, where she successfully established the first human relations commission.
Highly educated, Dr. Weaver pursued her academic efforts at Miami-Jacobs Career College, where she attained an Associate of Arts in accounting in 1962. Shortly thereafter, she completed a course through the International Accounting Society in 1964. Dr. Weaver later received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology at Capitol University in 1987 and a Doctor of Philosophy in social psychology at the Union Institute and University in 1992.
To remain aware of developments in the field, Dr. Weaver has been a prominent member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Organization of Women, the Center for Democratic Renewal, and the Southern Poverty Law Center. In 1979, she was recognized with the annual Paul Young Human Services Award from the Waterloo Courier in Waterloo, Iowa. Moreover, Dr. Weaver was recognized as an Outstanding Student in 1986 and has been named to several professional publications, including Outstanding Young Women of the Year and the Registry of Dayton.
