As an expert in criminal defense and DUI defense, Ms. Honiotes celebrates a successful career working in the field of law. From 2006 to 2014, she excelled as an assistant public defender to the Will County Public Defender. She was additionally active as an associate for 3 years before launching her practice as Honiotes Law Office Ltd. Ms. Honiotes' practice is focused on criminal, traffic and DUI law within Will, DuPage, Cook, Kane and other surrounding Illinois counties.
Ms. Honiotes has always harbored an interest in pursuing a career in law. Based upon her personal experience as a teenager, she made it her mission to represent others, specifically children, who felt that they did not have a voice. She obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2002. Ms. Honiotes subsequently earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago in 2005.
Based on her own background and experience, Ms. Honiotes' initial intention was to focus on Guardian ad Litem work as well as family law. Though she did not plan to pursue a career in criminal defense, she fell in love with the field after accepting a position in the adult division at the local public defender's office. Thereafter, she helped develop the Heroin Relapse and Prevention Protocol as a team member for the Will County Drug Court Program. Additionally, Ms. Honiotes was a developing team member for the Will County Veteran's and Service Member's Court as well as the Adult Redeploy Illinois Specialty Court.
Moreover, Ms. Honiotes has completed training with the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, the Illinois Association of Problem Solving Courts and the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority's Adult Redeploy Illinois Program. In addition to her career achievements, she was active as a mentor at Big Brother, Big Sister and a volunteer with the Joliet Junior Women's Club. Ms. Honiotes has also contributed her time as an assistant coach to her local softball team.
From 2020 to 2021, Ms. Honiotes served as the chairperson of the standing committee on corrections and sentencing for the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), with which she maintains her involvement. A member of the ISBA Cannabis Law Section Council and the Criminal Justice Section Council, she regularly participates with the DuPage County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Will County Bar Association and the Will County Women's Bar Association. She was notably recognized as Lead Counsel Rated for Criminal Law, State Felony and Misdemeanor as well as an Elite Lawyer in Criminal Law. Attributing her success to her strong work ethic, Ms. Honiotes aims to continue building her practice in the future.
