FERGUS FALLS, MN, June 15, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Victoria McWane-Creek has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in anthropology, business and sociology from Eastern Oregon University, Ms. McWane-Creek began working at AmeriCorps VISTA, which was part of the National Corporation for Community Service. During this time, she discovered that community action seemed to have deviated from their radical purpose to eradicate poverty and instead helped people live in their impoverished situations. Ms. McWane-Creek subsequently decided to venture into equity and inclusion in order to ensure all could fully participate in the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
Ms. McWane-Creek later obtained a Master of Science in instructional design and technology from the University of North Dakota. She additionally volunteered as a member of the city of Fergus Falls' Human Rights Commission. She also founded her own consulting company, through which she offers various services in the field. Over the years, Ms. McWane-Creek has attributed her professional success to her family.
Throughout her career, Ms. McWane-Creek has been incredibly proud of her work in the community of Fergus Falls. In 2020, she organized a rural racial equity summit, which was a culmination of one of the community practices that they had developed and implemented. Many of the event attendees were interested in becoming more aware of the lack of equity among races in local rural communities in addition to understanding ways to disrupt systemic racism.
As an accomplished professional, Ms. McWane-Cook was presented the Minnesota Compact Community Award, the Distinguished Achievement Award and the Presidents' Civic Engagement Steward Award. She was honored as a 2020 Change Maker by the Minnesota Women's Press. Looking toward the future, Ms. McWane-Creek plans to expand her organization by mentoring others and garnering influence to better continue her work.
