Dr. Dang initially obtained a BS in chemistry, physics and advanced stereochemistry from the University of Saigon College of Sciences, now known as the Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences in Vietnam, from 1965 to 1972. After immigrating to the United States, he earned a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. In addition, Dr. Dang pursued postdoctoral work at Tulane University in New Orleans and Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Between 1978 and 2006, Dr. Dang excelled as a medical researcher, chemist and instructor at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Department of Medicine, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Department of Cell Biology and Physiology, in Chapel Hill, research associate in the division of infectious diseases at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester and the department of rheumatology/immunology at the University of Baltimore School of Medicine. Moreover, he has authored or co-authored over 40 research abstracts and articles published in internationally peer-reviewed medical journals, including a book chapter on brain tumor: Chapter 6: Using REMBRANDT to Paint in the Details of Glioma Biology: Applications for Future Immunotherapy. In: Evolution of the Molecular Biology of Brain Tumors and the Therapeutic Implications, pp. 167-200, 2013. Likewise, Dr. Dang has been a member of the American Oil Chemists' Society, and the Arkansas Cancer Research Center.
Dr. Dang has accrued multiple accolades over the course of his impressive career. Notably, he has accepted scholarships from the American Medical Association between 1973 and 1975 as well as graduate research assistantships from 1975 to 1978. Furthermore, Dr. Dang was presented with Certificates for Outstanding Performance from Veterans Administration Medical Research in Little Rock from 1987 to 1991.

Also, in his spare time, he had worked as a volunteer and licensed Ombudsman in Nursing Homes of Orange County, CA from 2013-2019. Other than that, he was a member of Vietnamese Senior Arts Club (VSAC) for eight years and The Ann's Treasures Group that was sponsored by The Bowers Museum at Santa Ana, CA for about the same time. In the coming years, he intends to remain active in medical research and teaching, as well as volunteer community work. Additionally, Dr. Dang hopes to make a return visit to Vietnam and pursue scientific endeavors in that country.
