Richard F. Irwin is especially proud of his efforts in restructuring ITT's European business.
NEW HOPE, PA, June 18, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard F. Irwin has been included in Marquis Who's Who. For more than 60 years, Mr. Irwin has served his clients and his community, primarily as a tax lawyer. He began his career with the Internal Revenue Service, where he provided key advice to the pharmaceutical industry in helping to obtain the release of prisoners taken by Castro in the abortive invasion of Cuba in exchange for medical supplies. He subsequently served as an executive of ITT Corporation, retiring as its Vice President and General Tax Counsel in 1995. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of his efforts in restructuring ITT's European business, and, later, splitting up ITT into three separate companies without incurring substantial adverse financial effects.
Mr. Irwin received his B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1956, majoring in psychology. However, instead of pursuing a career as a clinical psychologist, as he had originally planned, he enrolled in Columbia Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1959.
More recently, Mr. Irwin served as a two-term president of the Bucks County Symphony Orchestra. In addition to serving on various local Boards, he is an arbitrator for the Bucks County (PA) Court System.
In retirement, Mr. Irwin enjoys spending quality time with his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, gardening and solving genealogic puzzles.
