Having initially earned distinction as a schoolteacher at Milwaukee Area Catholic School between 1967 and 1972, Ms. Hinnrichs-Dahms returned for several additional academic school years between 1983 and 1996. She also acquired a teaching appointment at Indian Community School in Milwaukee, as well as full- and part-time positions at Saint Rose School, the Brookfield Learning Center and, among others, Harambee Community Schools. As a part of her commitments to the field of education, Ms. Hinnrichs-Dahms has been a member of the Wisconsin Mathematics Council and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Other professional memberships to her credit include the International Institute of Folk Dancing, the United States Lighthouse Society and the Great Lakes Lighthouse Society. She holds the office of Chaplain and is a trustee at Golden Rule Chapter #194 of the Eastern Star in Milwaukee, WI. She has attended/been on staff for the Door County Folk Dance Festival since 1990.
Ms. Hinnrichs-Dahms' diverse career has included parallel roles working with the youth as a coach for the Milwaukee Recreation Department. She also held retail and management positions with Sav-U Warehouse Deli and the Original Cookie Company in Milwaukee and was a Midwest representative for World Explorer Cruises. Additionally, she served as the vice president of her family business, Hinnrichs Inc., in Germantown, Wisconsin, from 1964 to 1972, and was more recently employed with Edison Research and the U.S. Census. Furthermore, Ms. Hinnrichs-Dahms notably spent nearly three decades as a security guard for the Indian Summer Festival in Milwaukee between 1989 and 2018. Presently, she is a substitute teacher in the Germantown and Sussex districts in Wisconsin since 2000. She works weekends at Pilgrim Message Center since 1987.
Ms. Hinnrichs-Dahms earned a Bachelor of Arts from Alverno College in Milwaukee in 1971. She previously attended several other institutions, including the University of Wisconsin, Temple University and the International College of Copenhagen. Ms. Hinnrichs-Dahms also completed postgraduate coursework at Marylhurst College, Chapman College and the Institute of Shipboard Education between 1972 and 2005. Well regarded for her subsequent accomplishments, she was named in 1966 and 1967 as the Youngest Lecturer of the Travel Programs by the Milwaukee Public Museum, speaking about her two undergraduate semesters at Chapman College World Campus Afloat, now called Semester at Sea. She has traveled in all 50 states, many territories plus 84 countries.
