Ms. Kurtom obtained an associate's degree in automotive technology from Santa Barbara City College in 2002 and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the Dominican University of California in San Rafael in 2006. Driven by a passion for caring for the underserved, she excelled as a residential shelter counselor for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Santa Barbara from 2001 to 2003 and with Hamilton Family Emergency Shelter, a leading provider to families experiencing homelessness in San Francisco. In addition, Ms. Kurtom has provided childcare for inmates' visiting children at San Quentin State Penitentiary.
Ms. Kurtom earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Georgetown University in 2008 and prospered as a registered nurse in the pediatric care intensive care unit at the Children's Hospital at Inova Fairfax Medical Center in Falls Church, Virginia, from 2008 to 2010. Likewise, she has served with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore since 2010. In addition, Ms. Kurtom found success in intensive care at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland, in 2019.
Passionate for the cause of aiding vulnerable populations, Ms. Kurtom has committed herself to a holistic approach to patients and family members, through which she utilizes preventative medicine and employs a sharp focus on patient advocacy, coupled with evidence-based practice. Eminently qualified in her field, she has earned pediatric advanced life support (PALS) and advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA). Additionally, Ms. Kurtom is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), and the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA) as well as lifetime member of Psi Chi Honor Society, and is fluent in Spanish.
Privileged to serve on behalf of others, Ms. Kurtom is most proud to deliver excellent care to her patients on a daily basis. She credits her father, the late musician Gregg Allman, her professors' aid and encouragement, and the love of her children (son Rami and daughter Isis) for her success. In the coming years, Ms. Kurtom would like to finish her master's degree in advanced nursing and teach higher education students. In her free time, she loves to drive and tinker with muscle cars, it was a passion she shared with her father.
