WRIGHTSTOWN, NJ, June 28, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia Herrera has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Across the world, Ms. Herrera has inspired countless young minds. This past school year she exceled as the Elementary Lead Guide at Guidepost Montessori, a subsidiary of Higher Ground, which is an organization that is dedicated to mainstreaming and modernizing Montessori education throughout the world. In this capacity, she was responsible for teaching all subjects to students in first through sixth grade in a mixed-aged classroom. She has also previously earned distinction as the Assistant Head of School at one of their locations in Texas. Patricia has also served as Head of School at Quadrat Academy, an innovative and entrepreneurial Montessori secondary school in Philadelphia.
Ms. Herrera obtained a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in English from Kean University in 2002, where she received a full academic scholarship plus additional merit scholarships. She subsequently earned a Master of Education, concentrating in private school administration and curriculum and instruction, from Calvary Chapel University in 2015. Eminently qualified in her field, Ms. Herrera is certified through the Association Montessori Internationale to start and run a Montessori Adolescent Farm School Program, as a Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) coordinator and in MMUN bureau leadership.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Herrera has been commissioned as the new Montessori Adolescent Farm School Director to re-establish a second Montessori Farm School Program at the Montessori Academy of NJ located in Delran, NJ, which offers a holistic approach to education and practical preparation for life. She has started a non-profit organization, inspired by the farm she currently lives on, and which provides animal therapy to those suffering from anxiety and addiction. Living on a working farm, she recognizes and appreciates the hard work involved in such tasks as feeding horses, assisting in births, making natural soap from goat milk and beekeeping, to name a few. While studying horses, Ms. Herrera has examined in-depth the parallels between training horses in particular and teaching young students. Going forward, she hopes to write a book and present her findings in a workshop setting as well as offer equine therapy to other educators and entrepreneurs.
In addition to her positions at Guidepost Montessori, Ms. Herrera has established herself as a consultant for Teens Inc., which facilitates service trips abroad and local entrepreneurial initiatives for teenagers. She is also a volunteer role model for an organization called Hispanics Inspiring Students' Performance and Achievement (HISPA.org). As a result, her charity work has taken her across the Northern Hemisphere and she is currently sponsoring the family of a Haitian woman in the Dominican Republic, who is in the process of running a private school in a remote village in one of the sugarcane plantations, where Patricia has done volunteer work for years. Previously, Ms. Herrera sponsored a young girl in Guatemala, after whom her own daughter, Amaryllis, is named.
Well regarded for her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Herrera was notably recognized with the Top 100 Leaders Education Award from the Global Forum for Education and Learning in 2020. Previously, she was a recipient of the Edward J. Bloustein Award, as well as the Ford Motor Company Spirit Award.
