DELAND, FL, June 29, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joan Herrington has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A seasoned legal professional with years of practiced expertise, Ms. Herrington excels as the sole proprietor of Bay Area Employment Law Office, which offers both meditation and litigation services in the area of discrimination in employment. In her work as a trial attorney, she has also represented tenants and consumers. Earlier in her career, Ms. Herrington worked as an administrative law judge for the Fair Employment and Housing Commission, where she drafted regulations and presided over employment, housing and Unruh Act cases brought by the Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
Previously, Ms. Herrington gained valuable expertise in law as an associate for the Law Office of Cary J. Silverman and as an adjunct professor of disability law at Golden Gate University's School of Law. Due to her considerable knowledge, she has contributed to several publications and seminars throughout her career. Publications include: Editor of the monthly "Bulletin" (May 2015-August 2017, California Employment Lawyers Association) "Your Right To a Smoke-Free Workplace" (Public Health Institute), "Disability Rights Practice Guide" (American Lung Association), and Contributor to Chapter 12, "Leaves of Absence" in "Employment Litigation Practice Guide" (The Rutter Group). Seminars include: "Disability 101" and "Deposing the Human Resources Director," (California Employment Lawyers Association), "California Fair Employment and Housing Regulations Update" (National Employment Lawyers Association), "Workers with Disabilities and Illnesses" (State Bar of California, Labor and Employment Section) and "Whistleblower Retaliation Claims" (California Regional Trial Lawyers Association). Though her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Herrington is most proud of drafting the California Fair Employment and Housing Act disability regulations because of the broader impact these have than litigating individual cases.
An expert in her field, Ms. Herrington received a Labor and Employment Law Certificate with distinction and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law before earning admission to practice in all California courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the California Employment Lawyers Association and the State Bar of California. In light of her professional excellence, she was named in the Top 100 Women Attorneys through SF Magazine and a Super Lawyer in Employment Litigation between 2006 and 2009 and again from 2017 until 2021. Additionally, she has an AVVO "10 Superb" Rating. Looking toward the future, Ms. Herrington intends to retire to Fiji or New Zealand while remaining active as a mentor for colleagues in the industry.
