Having accrued more than 25 years of inimitable expertise in her chosen field, Mrs. Armstrong has garnered a lauded reputation through her work as the Co-Founder of The Transformation Specialists LLC, an online Mental Health Practice that specializes in the treatment of emotional disturbances, trauma and bipolar disorder. Likewise, she has amassed a great deal of experience in addressing chronic pain, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), addiction, depression, schizophrenia and other disorders. Additionally, serving as a Behavioral Health Provider-Lead with the Family Christian Health Center of Harvey, Illinois, Mrs. Armstrong is proud to utilize her Christian faith as a beacon of hope and positive change in the lives of her clients.
Prior to her present positions, Mrs. Armstrong found success in various counseling positions throughout the state of Illinois. Among them, she was active as a Case Manager for the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery in Harvey, Illinois, a Counselor at SGA Youth and Family Services in Chicago, Illinois, a Clinical Therapist through the Mentor Network in Matteson, Illinois, a Sexual Assault Counselor for Guardian Angels Community Services in Joliet, Illinois, and a Group Facilitator with Dr. Laverne Barnes of Matteson, Illinois. In 1994, Mrs. Armstrong began her work in the helping profession at Valley Kingdom Ministries, in South Holland, Illinois. During that time she established and directed the Lay Counseling and the Youth Outreach programs. Also, she was a Group Facilitator for the Drug and Alcohol program. In addition to her work, Mrs. Armstrong has distinguished herself through outreach/advocacy on behalf of children and teenagers in group homes throughout the Chicagoland area. Mrs. Armstrong has the heart of a helper in that she has volunteered to help families affected by sexual assault and gun violence.
Esteemed for her work in the field, Mrs. Armstrong has frequently been invited to speak at the Heal the Healer Caregiver Symposium in Texas since 2013, as well as at several churches and other Counseling organizations. Furthermore, she is a prolific facilitator for The National Board of Certified Counselors and The Mental Health Academy. Mrs. Armstrong is the author of several articles, including "Moving on From Military Sexual Trauma," which was published through the newsletter of The Association for Counselors and Educators in Government in 2013. She additionally penned "The Journey to Transformation: Embracing God's Process for Change" which was released via Precious Stone Ministries in 2016, among many other works.
Mrs. Armstrong became involved in her profession due to her own experiences with abuse and trauma while coming of age. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in accounting at Chicago State University in 1993, she later resolved to help people who have endured the same challenges that she faced. Mrs. Armstrong subsequently studied Psychology at the University of Maryland, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2008.
Following these accomplishments, Mrs. Armstrong continued her academic efforts at Capella University, obtaining a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, Graduation with Distinction in 2014. Eminently qualified in her field, she is board certified as a Telemental Health Provider, licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Florida and trained as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Additionally, Mrs. Armstrong has completed numerous hours of training in Child and Family Counseling, Sexual Assault, Hypnotherapy, Domestic Violence Counseling and Cognitive-based Therapies.
Outside of her vocational responsibilities, Mrs. Armstrong has been married to her wonderful husband, Ronald, since 1996. She is also the proud mother of four children, through whom she has welcomed nine grandchildren into her family. Looking toward the future, Mrs. Armstrong hopes to open offices for her clinical practice throughout the United States, establish a Crisis/Prayer Call Center and eventually secure an international presence in the field of Mental Health Counseling.
