Celebrating a storied career as a draftsman and structural steel detailer, Mr. Crymes has found success as the founder and president of Accurate Detailing Associates for nearly 30 years. From 1987 to 2015, he is proud to have not only led the organization of stand-alone detailers, but also provided a wealth of steel products for various construction projects, including for the Buckhead Library in Georgia. Supplying gantries for a moon shoot as well as space shuttles, Mr. Crymes is gratified to have contributed as a detailer on various large-scale projects.
Harboring a passion for drawing since he was a child, Mr. Crymes regularly found himself drawing rocket ships during his high school math class. At the end of the school year, his teacher handed him a stack of notebook papers containing his doodles. From that moment on, he was determined to pursue a career utilizing his artistic abilities. Mr. Crymes subsequently enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, through which he served his country from 1954 to 1957. He was grateful for the opportunity to apply his drawing skills while abroad.
After completing his military service, Mr. Crymes attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Georgia. He began his career as a draftsman with Jack Zwecker & Co. between 1961 and 1975, and later found success as a draftsman checker for L.N. Ross Engineering from 1984 to 1987 and as the chief draftsman for Addison Steel in 1987. Mr. Crymes returned to academia in 2017 to complete coursework in architectural history from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
For his achievements in the field, Mr. Crymes is honored to have been a recipient of the Architectural Digest Award, as well as the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Moreover, he is recognized as a Marquis Who's Who Top Professional. Since his retirement, Mr. Crymes has enjoyed spending his time maintaining electric trains and honing his computer programming skills.
