ROME, NY, July 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Keneth Hall II, MD, FACS, FASMBS has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Keneth Hall II is the medical director of the Hernia Center, Weight Loss Center, and Wound Centers at Rome Health in Rome, NY. Since taking that position with the hospital in September 2019, he has been instrumental in bringing minimally invasive general surgical techniques to the forefront of the institution and the central New York Community. Additionally, he recently performed some of the first minimally invasive weight loss surgeries ever done at the facility. Dr. Hall did is undergraduate education at York College of the City University of New York where he received several scholarships and awards for academic excellence and commitment to research and graduated with honors. He received an MD from Howard University College of Medicine in 2005 and while there he was selected to complete an internship at the US Department of Health and Human Services in Bethesda, Maryland where he investigated and made recommendations to address disparities in healthcare. Hall later underwent a rigorous general surgery training program at Stony Brook University Hospital before completing a minimally invasive, robotic and bariatric surgical fellowship at NYU Long Island in 2012. At NYU, Dr. Hall was Chair of the Committee on Obesity, director of Bariatric Quality Improvement and was director of surgical simulations. He was involved in several thousand surgeries and was instrumental in teaching and mentoring several medical students, physician assistants, residents and fellows alike. He was chosen as part of a team to help develop the new NYU Long Island School of Medicine's Curriculum for the inaugural class. His impact on the Long Island community was far reaching and went beyond just academics in fact, donations were made in his honor to the institution by one of his patients.

Dr. Hall was born in Jamaica and attended elementary school where he excelled in all subject areas and as such was voted "most industrious" for his creative contributions to his class. He developed an interest in medicine at an early age owing in part by his desire to help his ailing uncle, and a book called "Gifted Hands" by Dr. Ben Carson. Despite one his teachers stating that he wouldn't amount to anything, he was the only student from that class to pass the high school entrance exams that year at only 15 years old. However, the early high school years were tough on the young Hall as he had developed a severe speech impediment and couldn't even state his own name. This, in combination with his constitutional growth delay, did little for his confidence. He began struggling internally and became somewhat withdrawn. Ultimately, he dropped to the bottom of the class that first year. However, he eventually saw a parallel between his life and Dr. Carson's and began to dream of a career as a surgeon. A visit and pep talk from his father Desmond, a former schoolteacher who resided in Miami couldn't come at a better time as it seemed to ignite a spark within him. Motivated by his desire to succeed, a dedicated mother and most importantly his belief in GOD, he quickly climbed the ranks academically. He later emigrated to United States to live with his father, stepmother and sister who provided the right environment, resources and additional guidance to complete his education. He quickly assimilated the American culture and set his heart on attaining the "American Dream."

Today Dr. Hall is a well sought-after surgeon, educator and motivational speaker. He is frequently invited to speak and moderate at several symposia, graduation commencements and medical associations nationally as well as around the world. He has contributed to many peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts for various esteemed international publications and as served as adviser to many industry boards. He has received several prestigious awards over the years for his outstanding contributions to surgery, medicine and the community at large. He has been featured in numerous media outlets including NY Times for the Rising Star Award, multiple Top Doctor Awards and in 2016 he was honored with the 40 Under 40 Achievement Award from the Network Journal. He was presented with the Distinguished Alumnus Award from is alma matter York College, CUNY in 2014. He is regularly featured on many local newspapers, TV and radio stations in central NY. Additionally, he has been seen in MD News Magazine, Newsday Newspaper and Rome Sentinel Newspaper. One of Dr. Hall's videos chronicling how he dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has gone viral and his globally televised interview with the late Ian Boyne on Profile has been an inspiration to many over the years.

Dr. Hall is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. He has recently helped to start a new bariatric program in Rome, NY where is currently offering surgeries for obese patients including but not limited Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass surgery, Sleeve Gastrectomies and corresponding revisions as well as a full complement of general surgical procedures. He credits his loving family and friends but especially his children for providing the support, motivation and major driving force in his life. When he's not working, he enjoys jogging, golfing and playing tennis. Looking forward, he intends to remain on the cutting edge of technology and plans to research and invest more deeply in robotic surgical technology. Above all, Dr. Hall wants to be remembered as a testament that with a little determination, a big plan and much hard work you can accomplish anything. However, he recognizes that the playing ground is not always level and states "opportunity is what truly separates us from success." He believes wholeheartedly that it is the responsibility of the successful to educate and mentor those that will come in our place.
