As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After acquiring his first role as a set illustrator for MGM Studio in 1964, Mr. Cann spent nearly three decades as a freelance graphic designer in Los Angeles. Developing quite a portfolio, he has created countless television set designs and film credit designs, album covers, corporate logos and commissioned murals for various large companies, retail stores and restaurants throughout the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Cann was born in Los Angeles to a five-generation Palo Alto family. He later studied at San José State University, Ecole des Beaux Arts in France and the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. Presently, he continues to amaze clients as both an illustrator and graphic designer after 55 years in the industry. Embracing projects of all kinds, he freely dabbles in set design and is available for commissioned work. He designed posters, sets and some costumes for the Nutcracker ballet and diaries for Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai. His work was featured in the movies Ice Station Zebra, The Woman in Red, Hook, and Belle Starr. Furthermore, Mr. Cann has carried on cultivating his skills at calligraphy and wedding invitation design out of his home studio in Napa, California.
To further enhance his career, Mr. Cann is a member of the Arts Council of Napa Valley and the Napa Valley Art Association. He is also a member of the Artisan Territory, which is an online gallery and artist representative.
