Inspired to advocate for those who felt disenfranchised, Dr. Washington initially obtained an Associate of Science in criminal justice and corrections from Mercer County Community College in 2003. Soon thereafter, she earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey in 2006 and a Master of Science in criminal justice and criminal behavior from Tiffin University in 2008. Though she originally intended to become an attorney, she began her career as a family service specialist with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency in 2007 in an effort to continue on her path as an advocate. Dr. Washington concluded her education in 2020, at which time she graduated with a PhD in international psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Her dissertation focused on positive youth development through initiatives that create behavioral changes in impoverished communities. She also gained field experience in Peru, South Africa and Jamaica.
Throughout her career, Dr. Washington has maintained her professional affiliations with Alpha Kappa Alpha, the American Psychology Association and the 1906 Educational Foundation. Currently, she is proud to operate as a mentor for Black Women PhDs LLC. For her accomplishments, she is honored to have been selected for inclusion in Strathmore Who's Who Worldwide in 2021. Looking toward the future, she aims to implement consulting services in order to make changes within the educational system. Likewise, Dr. Washington is grateful to have been afforded the ability to support people and provide assistance whenever it was needed. She is continuing the legacy of her father, the late Dr. Jack Washington, who was also recognized by Marquis Who's Who in America.
