A former global hydro-processing specialist of the Albemarle Corporation from 2007 to 2017, he was also a distinguished engineering associate of hydro-processing and catalyst development of Exxon Mobil in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from 2002 to 2007 and a catalyst coordinator of Exxon Research and Engineering in Baton Rouge from 1991 to 2002. Prior, he served the aforementioned company as the quality assurance coordinator from 1990 to 1991 and the section head of fuels processing development from 1988 to 1991.
Moreover, Dr. Anderson flourished as the corporate technical advisor of Exxon Research and Engineering in Annandale, New Jersey, from 1985 to 1988. Previously, he served Exxon Research and Engineering in several capacities in other locations, such as the section head of process planning engineering in Florham Park, New Jersey, from 1983 to 1985, a senior staff engineer of synfuels in Baytown, Texas, from 1980 to 1983 and a research engineer of coal liquefaction and other synthetic fuels from 1977 to 1983. He is noteworthy for his discovery of the effects of shear stress on human platelet functions in blood clotting, as well as inventions of coal liquefaction bottoms recycle process schemes. He also coordinated the development and commercialization of 40 refining catalysts.
Prior to embarking upon his career, Dr. Anderson pursued an education at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering in 1968 and a Master of Engineering in biomedical engineering in 1969. He later obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering from Rice University in 1977. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Anderson has contributed more than 50 technical articles to professional journals and more than 30 presentations to major professional symposia and conferences. Additionally, he holds patents in his field.
Dr. Anderson previously served in the United States Air Force between 1970 and 1973, where he was stationed at the Brooks Air Force Base School of Aerospace Medicine and the Norton Air Force Base Aerospace Audio Visual Service. Beyond his primary endeavors, he is a past member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Sigma Xi.
