BETHESDA, MD, July 12, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ann Gallagher has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Gallagher completed a Master of Science degree in watershed ecology from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1996. While completing her degree, she was an instructor for the department of biology and was invited to give numerous environmental science presentations throughout her community. After obtaining a Master of Science degree, she excelled as a research professor at George Mason University applying data science principles to national-level investigations. From 2007 until 2016, Ms. Gallagher found tremendous success as a science lecturer at the Catholic University of America's Metropolitan School of Professional Studies.
Towards the end of this period, Ms. Gallagher was appointed to her current role as a science education coordinator for the U.S. National Park Service's Urban Ecology Research Learning Alliance. In addition to designing natural resource investigations for the 16 National Park units around Washington, DC, she assists in developing science-informed materials to advise resource management decisions complicated by climate change. She also thrives as a member of the national executive team and as the secretary of the board for Start School Later Inc., which is an international nonprofit dedicated to establishing appropriate school times for adolescent health. Ms. Gallagher co-founded a local chapter which succeeded in changing the school start times in Montgomery County, Maryland, by presenting thorough scientific evidence to the county Board of Education.
Thanks to her vast portfolio of volunteer leadership related to establishing best management practices for environmental protection and student achievement, Ms. Gallagher has received numerous prestigious accolades, such as the President's Volunteer Service Lifetime Award, which is bestowed by the President of the United States. Along with her responsibilities at the National Park Service and Start School Later, she contributes to new environmental policies and legislation through her other nonprofit; Ann's Backyard Forest. Furthermore, Ms. Gallagher is currently pursuing a doctorate from Old Dominion University that is focused on the relationship between public policy, human health, accesses to green spaces, and environmental resiliency in the Anthropocene.
