She also was a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, an international law firm that specializes in mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and other matters. Earlier in her career, Ms. Fodor found success as an in-house counsel for the Empire State Development Corporation, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, both in New York City and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in Madison.
As an extension of her work, Ms. Fodor has contributed to her field as a writer of numerous articles for various legal journals. Additionally, she served as an editor and chapter contributor for a legal book, and a founding board member of the Journal of Corporate Real Estate. Frequently invited to speak before various conferences, Ms. Fodor has also lectured on a large number of topics.
To prepare for her future, Ms. Fodor earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Wisconsin in 1969, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the university's law school in 1972. Years later, she attained a master's degree in corporate real estate, with honors, at NACORE's Institute of Corporate Real Estate in 1999. Ms. Fodor has been admitted to practice law by the Wisconsin and New York Bar Associations, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, First Judicial Department, as well as the Supreme Court of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, and the Supreme Court of Wisconsin.
Ms. Fodor was recognized by her peers by having been elected as a fellow of both the American College of Construction Lawyers and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. She was just one of three U.S. attorneys to receive both distinctions. Among her other professional affiliations, Ms. Fodor also serves as a neutral arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, is a founding member of the Commercial Real Estate Woman Network, and served as the chairperson of the construction law committee of the New York State Bar Association. Other memberships to her credit include the Wisconsin State Bar Association, the Urban Land Institute, the Construction Management Association of America and the Real Estate Board of New York.
Selected for several awards from the Institute for Corporate Real Estate, including a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Presentation in 1998 and an Apgard Award of Excellence for Best Article in 1999, Ms. Fodor has also been consistently included in a multitude of legal publications.
