A hit songwriter and producer from upstate New York, Mr. Meeks began his musical journey as a teenager. He was a self-described "knucklehead" and music was his outlet, which changed his life for the better. As a self-taught drummer and keyboardist, he was invited by entertainment lawyer Leroy Johnson, brother to the late Rick James, to his East Buffalo mansion for a meeting about his talent. Subsequently, Mr. Meeks signed under Johnson's management company but readily admits he was not focused or disciplined enough to truly take advantage of the amazing opportunity.
After moving from Buffalo, New York, to Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Meeks focused himself and began to excel in the field he loves, gaining valuable expertise in the Publishing Department of Dallas Austin Recording Projects (DARP) assisting Danny Zook, Morris Day Entertainment and Artist Factory. Presently, he channels his considerable expertise into his work as president and chief executive officer of Song Source Music Group LLC (SSMG). As the head of SSMG, he has managed such talents as Diamonique Jackson, Darryl Allen of MISTA, Dave Tolliver of Men at Large, and the legendary R&B singer Tony Terry. In his work, he liaises with several other record labels, including EMPIRE. Alongside his service with SSMG, Mr. Meeks serves as the senior executive for New Music Insite. He also contributes to those less fortunate during his spare time by continuously working with state representatives in Atlanta to mentor local youth.
