KERNERSVILLE, NC, July 21, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wyatt S. Jones has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Jones grew up in Bronx, New York. One of his jobs included cleaning his neighbor's beauty salon. This led him to the idea that he might like to own a salon someday himself. After high school, he attended Apex Beauty College in New York City. After graduation, Mr. Jones began his professional job at Chez Landeros Beauty Salon in New York City. In that salon, Mr. Jones experienced the opportunity to work on celebrities as customers, such as Dianne Sands, Mrs. Jackie Robinson and her daughter Cheryl, as well as Diahann Carol and The Isley Brothers, to name a few.
During his time at Landeros, he met his future wife, Dr. Rosa Wright Jones. The couple married and relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina, where he opened his own business, Styles By Mr. Jones Beauty Salon. He has two sons, Alan (wife Valencia) and Arnold (wife Sheneé).
To keep abreast of new trends in the field of cosmetic arts, Mr. Jones decided to go ahead. He studied in the Third Annual London Teach-in – The Best of Britain. Presenters included Vidal Sassoon/European Artistic Team. Leaving London, Mr. Jones also attended classes in Paris at the Paris Teach-In. The featured artists was Jacques Jacquet, a member of the design team of Haute Coiffure Francaise.
Mr. Jones continued to attend sessions and workshops at Pivot Point in Chicago and Appalachian State University, located in Boone, NC, in Salon management. He has been an attendee to Sally's Beauty Supply Company professional workshops in NC, and was a presenter at The Bronner Brothers Show on Atlanta. GA.
He maintains memberships with the National Hairdresser and Cosmetologist Association and the North Carolina A&T Aggie Club.
He was appointed to the State Board by the Governor of North Carolina and he has co-sponsored golf tournaments for the Winston Salem Chapter of North Carolina Central University. He was listed as one of Greensboro's Movers, Shakers and Makers in 2002. He is a lifetime member of the Winston Salem Chapter of the NAACP. He is also grateful to have been a recipient of a Certificate for 45 Years in Business and a Certificate of Appreciation for Taking a Stand from the Southern Poverty Law Center. Mr. Jones has been an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer for more than 40 years. He was nominated to serve on the Vestry, the governing body of the church, for two terms.
