An accomplished listee, Ms. Chatman celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Chatman received her professional start as a clerk-typist while she was a student at Jackson Community College in 1964. After this time, she completed some work as a secretary before she finally earned her Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, in 1970. Following this accomplishment, she obtained her Master of Arts from Western Michigan University in 1973. Ms. Chatman was previously selected to be included in the 20th edition of Who's Who in the Midwest.

Ms. Chatman credits her parents with her choice to become involved in education. She received scholarships to pursue her education endeavors. Neither her parents were high school graduates; however, they impressed upon Ms. Chatman and her siblings that a good education was important and supported her throughout her career path. Ms. Chatman finds the most gratifying aspect of her career to be the ability it grants her to give back to her community.
