EL DORADO, AR, July 23, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Veronica Smith-Creer has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mrs. Smith-Creer began her career in business 25 years ago as the co-owner of a carpet cleaning business alongside her husband. She has also been heavily involved in community service and civic work as a member of numerous local boards of civic organizations. In 2006, she worked on a campaign for Governor Mickey Dale Beebe, which introduced her to the political field. Mrs. Smith-Creer also served at the Democratic Committee for the state of Arkansas, which further developed her knowledge of government service.
Mrs. Smith-Creer first ran for city council in 2008. Although she did not win, she continued her involvement with different committees and community service efforts. By 2017, she had become a prolific presence in her community and people began suggesting that she run for mayor. Heeding their advice, and leveraging her vast experience in public service, Mrs. Smith-Creer ran for the position in 2018 and won on the platform of serving as a voice for the whole city.
After securing election, Mrs. Smith-Creer was met with the COVID-19 pandemic. Traditionally, the role of mayor has consisted of the general oversight of local services, including for the fire department and police department. However, Mrs. Smith-Creer's connections within her community have propelled her to take an active approach to her mayoral duties. She serves as the face of the city, handling public relations duties.
Throughout the course of her career, Mrs. Smith-Creer has been most proud to serve as a mayor for all people. Though she had never seen an African American person in such a high position, she trusted her abilities and pursued her goals anyway. Mrs. Smith-Creer hopes to encourage women and men of all ages and backgrounds to pursue their dreams and aspire to the highest level of success.
As a respected voice in her community, Mrs. Smith-Creer has a column in a local newspaper called "Mayor's Moment." She has also been invited as a keynote speaker to several award ceremonies, and was named as the Person of the Year in 2017. She has attributed her professional success to her faith, as well as her ability to help others and sustain a high quality of life for her constituents. In the coming years, she plans to continue her mission of helping her community thrive. She would also like to publish a book and expand her social media platforms in an effort to educate, inform and inspire.
