Notably, Ms. Gordon received several awards for her military service, including the Overseas Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Lay Reader Medal. Civically, she has been affiliated with various nonprofit enterprises and charitable organizations throughout El Paso, Texas, such as Veterans of Foreign Wars and Greater El Paso Republican Women. Over the years, Ms. Gordon has attributed her professional success to her parents, who fostered her love for poetry and writing at a young age.
