Mr. Jafa initially earned an electromechanical degree in engineering in Iraq in 1983. Since 2007, Mr. Jafa has made an impact as the senior director and a senior fellow at PepsiCo Global Research and Development, a multinational food, snack and beverage corporation located in Valhalla, New York. In these positions, he is responsible for cooler vending innovation, leading sustainability strategy for all equipment, representing the company in outside events, building technology more around future innovations, mentoring and coaching. As Sr. Fellow, Mr. Jafa championed visionary research designed to benefit consumers and society, collaborated with the brightest minds outside the company and has been PepsiCo ambassador in his area of expertise. His areas of expertise likewise include equipment design, equipment sustainability and innovation. Mr. Jafa has demonstrated expertise in leading large programs with multi-million-dollar budgets from concept to commercialization utilizing a systematic stage-gate process, and he led innovation agendas where the technologies developed have reduced energy consumption by more than 60% - and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 50% in 2020, compared to the 2015 baseline. Mr. Jafa has filed for over thirty patents in the areas of innovation and technology; thirteen of them were granted.
In a career filled with highlights, Mr. Jafa is incredibly proud of his product innovations, reducing energy usage and receiving an award from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University for his work at PepsiCo. In the coming years, he intends to pursue strategic planning and consulting.
