Mr. Manning is an electrical engineer and the owner and founder of Manning Design and Engineering Group PLLC. Established in 2016 as a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, his electrical engineering design company provides an array of electrical engineering designs and construction solutions for commercial and governmental clients across many industries, including health care, education, retail and more. Specializing in lighting design, with energy-saving controls for new construction and renovation, clients benefit in many ways, from less expensive utility bills and increased productivity to better aesthetics. Though Manning Design caters to the Charlotte area, electrical engineering consultants are available in several other states throughout the U.S., bringing with them years of expertise.
Mr. Manning attributes much of his success to being detail oriented. In this capacity, he is primarily responsible for the design aspect, and also handles proposals for clients and oversees the business's marketing and management of seven employees. Bringing with him nearly two decades of experience, Mr. Manning has notably held several other prestigious positions, including Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates as Director of Electrical Engineering, Freeman White Inc. as a senior electrical engineer and McKim & Creed as a production management group manager.
Mr. Manning has extensively studied the field, later authoring several articles in professional journals on various related topics. Among his most significant designs, he has been responsible for the operating suite for the Salem Medical Center in Virginia, the security system for Charlotte Mecklenburg School and the Piedmont Natural Gas Operations Center. To better serve his community, Mr. Manning is also a volunteer, co-lead and mentor on behalf of the Architecture Construction Engineering (ACE) mentoring program. He formerly served as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America for Troop 148 and Crew 148, and as a buffalo patrol leader in Woodbridge, Class of S5-415-13.
After graduating from Audubon Junior-Senior High School in 1990, Mr. Manning served in the U.S. Air Force for seven years, until 1997, during which time he completed coursework at the Airman Leadership School and earned an associate's degree in logistics from the Community College of the Air Force in 1996. He also completed an associate's degree in general studies in the Asia division of the University of Maryland Global Campus in 1997 and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2005. Eminently qualified in the field, Mr. Manning has been a LEED accredited professional since 2005 and a licensed engineer in 14 of the 50 states.
A consummate professional, Mr. Manning has served as a member of several industry-related organizations. Among them, he has maintained his affiliation with the Charlotte chapter of the Professional Engineers in North Carolina and the National Society of Professional Engineers. To honor his commitment to the military while he was active duty overseas, Mr. Manning was recognized in 1995 as the Pacific Air Forces Supply Professional of the Year.
