Mr. Rodwin is viewed by his community as an expert in green architecture, as well as a successful entrepreneur. Mr. Rodwin is the Principal Architect and CEO of Rodwin Architecture in his hometown of Boulder, Colorado. Mr. Rodwin attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1991. He Founded Rodwin Architecture in 1999 and its building arm, Skycastle Construction in 2002. Since then, the combined firms have grown to 20 staff members and have been recognized as leaders in both residential design/build and sustainable design in Colorado and nationally. A famous quote from essayist and philosopher Henry David Thoreau is the reason why Mr. Rodwin found himself in his career path. Mr. Rodwin has lectured for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) nationally on "Extreme Green Custom Homes", and has been a professor teaching "Green Building" at Naropa University in Boulder since 2015. He has also taught a popular course called "Understanding the Rules for Building in Boulder" since 2008 for the Boulder Area Realtor Association. Mr. Rodwin has authored dozens of articles on architecture and green building, and his projects have been the subject of several dozen more. He sees educating the public and the profession about the value of sustainable design as critical to expanding its impact world-wide. He is a former President of both the Northern Colorado chapter of the AIA, and the Colorado Green Building Guild. His leadership and volunteer service to the local, state and national design community has been a consistent aspect of his career.
Through the years, Mr. Rodwin's work has been respected and admired by his clients, as well as those within his field. In 2006, he was named "Young Architect of the Year" for the U.S. Western Region by the American Institute of Architects and he has won more than 25 awards for design and service excellence. His homes have been recognized numerous times with "Green Home of the Year" awards at the local, state and national level. His specialty of creating Net-Zero and "regenerative" homes have achieved multiple LEED Platinum certifications.
Looking ahead to the future of his career and architecture, Mr. Rodwin hopes that in five years he will continue the steady growth of his business. He aims to popularize "extreme-green" sustainable design and the design-build method to do larger and greener projects yearly.
