For over 40 years, Dr. Knoll has flourished as co-owner of Knoll Farms in Brentwood, California. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science from the University of California Irvine in 1974, he earned a doctorate in organic chemistry from the aforementioned university four years later. Rick subsequently established Knoll Farms alongside his wife, Kristie Knoll, and has since played a vital role in shaping California's famously health-conscious food culture.
In addition to overseeing the production of a diversity of crops, Rick helps Knoll Farms evolve by continuously experimenting with new varieties of specialty fruits and vegetables. He was inspired to create Knoll Farms after returning from the Vietnam War with a series of serious health issues. Once he began eating more "live" (raw) food, his health began to improve dramatically. Pondering the connection between food quality and physical vitality lead Dr. Knoll to recognize the basic links between the microbial diversity of his plant rhizosphere (nurturing his crops) and the fundamental relationship – symbiosis of food quality and human health.
Dr. Knoll and others have established the direct relationship between the quality of the plant rhizosphere and the subsequent health of our digestive system – where literally all disease begins!
Along with his farming responsibilities Rick is passionate about helping others understand the healing capabilities of their bodies. He regularly conducts seminars and releases literature about utilizing biological diverse-nutrient dense food to remedy most "modern day" diseases. Dr. Knoll attributes his success to the fact that he has been able to evolve with a dynamic farm eco-system for more than four consecutive decades!
