After earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science from American University in 1978, Ms. Coulton obtained a Juris Doctor in law, cum laude, from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 1991. She also aqcuired an accounting certificate from the University of Virginia. Moreover, Ms. Coulton has accrued over 60 credits from the Florida Bar's Continuing Legal Education program.
Ms. Coulton began her career with the firm of Jenner and Block as a summer associate in 1990 and an associate in the tax department from 1991 to 1993. She later became an associate in the corporate department of Shefsky & Froelich from 1993 to 1995 before working as an independent contractor for a law firm in Illinois between 1995 and 1996. Additionally, Ms. Coulton found success as the owner and manager of Marianne Coulton & Associates from 1996 to 2003.
From 2007 to 2008, Ms. Coulton served as a corporate and estate planning associate for Redgrave & Rosenthal LLP, as well as an estate planning associate for Morris Law Group. She subsequently became a solo practioner of corporate and business planning, estate planning and probate law with Marianne Coulton, P.A. from 2009 to 2017. Since 2021, Ms. Coulton has excelled as a partner with the Toikka Law Group LLP.
In addition, Ms. Coulton garnered experience in accounting, litigation, and real estate outside of her primary professional responsibilities. Furthermore, she has been affiliated with the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys. Ms. Coulton was also certified as a public accountant in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been admitted to practice law by the Florida Bar.
Ms. Coulton has received many awards and honors throughout her career, including induction to the Lawyers of Distinction. She was aditionally recognized as a Pro Bono Superhero by the Florida Bar's business law section. Moreover, Ms. Coulton was presented with the Double Ruby Award for Outstanding Speaking Achievement in 1974.
Ms. Coulton attributes her success to her close relationships with her father, her uncle and her grandparents, who were mentors to her. The highlight of her career has been helping elderly and handicapped individuals with legal issues. In the coming years, Ms. Coulton intends to continue practicing law, and she is considering running for public office.
