Paul R. Renick Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Renick with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Renick celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. For more than 35 years, Mr. Renick worked in library science and education in North Dakota. After retiring in 2004, he decided to dedicate his time to leisure. Since 2010, Mr. Renick has been active at Hope Covenant Church in Grand Forks as its church co-librarian.

Mr. Renick began his career as a circulation and reference librarian at Dickinson State College in 1968. In 1969, he accepted a position as an assistant professor of library sciences at the University of North Dakota. After four years in academia, Mr. Renick shifted his focus to teaching high school students.

Mr. Renick garnered further expertise as a media director at Valley Junior High School in Grand Forks from 1973 to 1994 and at Central High School in Grand Forks from 1994 to 2002. He also worked as a substitute library and the media director at the aforementioned district's South Middle School for 2002 to 2004. The past president of the North Dakota Library Media Association, Mr. Renick is a member of the National Education Association, the National Model Railroad Association and the Twin Cities Railroad Museum.

As an extension of his work, Mr. Renick was the editor and co-chair for the North Dakota Library Media and Technology Standards publications. He was likewise active as the director of the Frameworks Library Media Curriculum Study for Grand Forks Public Schools between 2000 and 2002.

Beyond from his passion and dedication to education and library science, Mr. Renick initially became involved in club and high school swimming as an official because his two eldest daughters were competitive swimmers. After officiating for his daughter's teams, he completed a training program to become a national championship referee and became involved in administration within the state. Mr. Renick's youngest daughter, who was developmentally disabled, also participated in a swimming club.

In 1980, Mr. Renick was appointed as the deck meet director for North Dakota State Swim Meets in Grand Forks. He remained in this position until 2002. Soon thereafter, Mr. Renick flourished with the NCAA DII National Championship Swim Meet as an assistant meet director in 2004 and an entry chairperson from 2005 to 2010.

Raised in a small town in North Dakota, Mr. Renick pursued a formal education at Dickinson State College, from which he earned a bachelor's degree in 1968. He later obtained a Master of Library Science at George Peabody College for Teachers in 1969. He also completed additional graduate coursework at George Peabody College for Teachers and the University of North Dakota. Mr. Renick is also certified as a teacher and a media director in the state of North Dakota.

The recipient of the Phillips 66 Meritorious Service to Swimming Award in 1995, Mr. Renick was recognized multiple times as High School Swimming Official of the Year by the North Dakota High School Swim Coaches Association between 1993 and 2000.
