Mr. Braverman is an esteemed attorney who established his private practice in Cleveland in 1972. Boasting decades of expertise, he specializes in providing estate planning and probate law expertise to clients. Practicing in the S tate of Ohio since 1972, he formerly flourished as a partner at Walter & Haverfield LLC for more than 10 years, from 1996 to 2008. During this tenure, Mr. Braverman notably served as the chairman of the estate planning and wealth management group, was responsible for developing complex estate plans for high net-worth clients and focused on creating succession plans for business owners.
Mr. Braverman previously worked as a senior partner at Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur from 1987 to 1996, where he was also appointed as the chairman of the trusts and estates group. Involved in numerous non-profit and local organizations throughout much of his career, he particularly enjoyed his success with the MetroHealth System between 1995 and 2012, playing a leading role as a foundation board member at the nationally ranked non-profit public health care system that treats patients throughout Cuyahoga County, Ohio and northeast Ohio, offering a wealth of services to patients.
Mr. Braverman further supported Orange Village, Ohio, as its president of Council between 1998 and 2001 and as a councilman between 1988 and 2019, the American Jewish Congress as president between 1992 and 2008 and the Wharton Club of Cleveland as its president between 1991 and 2007, among several others. Among his professional commitments, he has been affiliated with the American College Trust and Estate Counsel as an elected Fellow since 1996. Being a long-time member of the American Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association, Mr. Braverman likewise served two terms as a president of the Suburban East Bar Association and as the former chairman of the estate planning, trust and probate section of the Bar Association of Greater Cleveland.
After high school in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Braverman initially earned a Bachelor of Science in economics at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1969. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1970, advancing to the rank of Captain before exiting the military honorably in 1982. During this time, he obtained a Juris Doctor degree at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1972. Mr. Braverman has been admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Claims and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
For his tireless work ethic, Mr. Braverman was presented with an Estate Planner of the Year Award from the Northeast Ohio Estate Planning Council in 2006. which award was presented to him by the then Dean of Harvard Law School, U. S. Supreme Court Associate Justice, Elena Kagan. Additionally, in 1969, he was honored with the Benjamin Franklin national scholarship.
