For more than 30 years, Ms. Yelagina has flourished as a psychologist for children and adults with mental disabilities. A native of Russia, she studied psychology at Moscow State University and was subsequently recruited by the Moscow Center for Psychological Research, with which she found remarkable success for 20 years. Upon her arrival to the United States, Ms. Yelagina completed School Psychology certification from the City College of New York.
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Ms. Yelagina thrived as a school psychologist for the New York City Department of Education. During this period, she frequently worked with children who had been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactive disorder, autism and various other mental disabilities. She retired from the New York City Department of Education in 2016.
Ms. Yelagina attributes her success to the inspiration that she received from many highly esteemed members of her field. She is also very grateful to have consistently treated different types of patients throughout her career, which allowed her to develop an incredibly vast knowledge of mental illness. In the near future, Ms. Yelagina intends to write a book that explores her unique perspective of the U.S. as a Russian immigrant.
