BALTIMORE, MD, August 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jill M. Lemke, MRP, CC-P, CPE, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Lemke celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Lemke was only a child when her passion for cities and protecting the environment first began to flourish. Though she originally intended to pursue this goal through journalism, she soon found that working for elected officials presented a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the world. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in communications from the SUNY College at Brockport in 1989, Ms. Lemke interned for the Monroe County Legislature in Rochester, New York for two years before being appointed as the communications coordinator for a member of the New York State Assembly.
Since her new team amounted to just three people, Ms. Lemke's responsibilities frequently stretched well beyond her job description. As a result, she felt fully prepared for increasingly high-powered positions when she concluded this challenging experience in 1994. Working in politics also helped Ms. Lemke discover that studying city planning presented the most effective path to addressing the economic and environmental issues that continue to drive her career.
In 1997, Ms. Lemke earned a Master of Regional Planning from Cornell University. She was subsequently recruited as a planning specialist for the city of Buffalo, New York. Amidst her immense success as an outreach specialist and the city's coordinator of community planning, Ms. Lemke helped create and implement a new community-driven system for ensuring local residents have an active voice in the planning process.
After thriving in Buffalo for seven years, Ms. Lemke found success in planning and community development in Maryland, where she accepted a daunting role as Main Street Manager in the Town of Mount Airy, MD, then as a comprehensive planner for the city of Baltimore. Three years later, she advanced to become the planning supervisor of research, policy and economic development for the city of Baltimore. Ms. Lemke has excelled in her current position as the manager of strategic planning and special projects for the Maryland Port Administration since 2015.
Since environmental issues have always had a direct impact on her work, Ms. Lemke furthered her understanding and expertise by becoming a certified climate change professional through the State of Maryland and the Association of Climate Change Officers in 2019. She is also certified as a port executive and was previously recognized as a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
