LAS VEGAS, NV, August 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Warren H. Evins has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Evins obtained a Bachelor of Science in professional chemistry in 1965 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and then a PhD in biochemistry in 1971 from Michigan State University in East Lansing. He subsequently earned a Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1977. While completing postgraduate studies at The Rockefeller University in biochemical research and working for three Nobel Prize winners in medicine, he was inspired to enter the medical field when he realized the importance of communicating research findings to physicians.
From 1965 to 1971, Dr. Evins gained exemplary experience as a graduate assistant at Michigan State University in the biochemistry department and at the MSU/Atomic Energy Commission Lab before transitioning to Rockefeller University as a research associate and postdoctoral fellow in the university's laboratory of cell biology. In 1974, he served as a visiting fellow in medicine with the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University, and after earning his medical doctorate in 1977, Dr. Evins prospered as a resident in obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin until 1979 and at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine internal medicine program in Las Vegas. He found further success as a clinical assistant professor of medicine with the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 1979 to 1987.
Dr. Evins excelled in solo private practice in internal medicine, interested in diabetes care from 1983 to 2021 and while on staff as a physician with the University Medical Center Quick and Primary Care in Las Vegas from 1997 to 2007. From 2007 to 2018, he served as an adjunct professor in internal medicine with the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University Nevada. Dr. Evins has also made an impact as executive director of the Clark County Medical Society from 2008 to 2010 and Governor of the Nevada chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP). Additionally, he assisted in primary care medicine with Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada.
Dr. Evins holds certificates from the American Board of Internal Medicine and National Board of Medical Examiners and was licensed to practice medicine in Nevada. Research grants were received from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. His recent awards include the Feikes Award for Distinguished Physician of the Year from the Clark County medical Society (CCMS) in 2010, the Distinguished Physician of the Year award from the Nevada State Medical Association (NSMA) in 2012, the Shreck Award for Leadership and Service from NSMA in 2015 and the Laureate Award from the Nevada chapter of the ACP in 2016. He served as President of the Nevada chapter of the American Diabetes Association in 1986, CCMS from 2002 to 2003, and the NSMA from 2005 to 2006 and on the accreditation review committee of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) from 2011 to 2017. According to Dr. Evins, he attributes his success to his hard work and his interest in patient care.
