After earning an Education Specialist degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 2018, Ms. Easterly has excelled as a fifth grade educator with Northfield Elementary School, a part of the Murfreesboro City Schools. She was also active as a fourth grade Sunday school teacher with the New Vision Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. As a result of her stellar professional efforts, Ms. Easterly was recognized among the Teachers of the Year by Murfreesboro City Schools and the Tennessee Department of Education in 2019 and 2020.
Beyond her primary responsibilities, Ms. Easterly maintains her affiliation with Phi Kappa Alpha, the NCTM and the NSTA in Math and Science. Outside of her professional ventures, she has been incredibly dedicated to her family, which includes her loving husband, Karl, and her children, Gabriel and Edward. Previously recruited as an academic coach at Northfield Elementary School, Ms. Easterly further flourished as a member of a state committee for the review of licensure assessment content in Tennessee.
Initially deciding upon a career in music, Ms. Easterly was eventually drawn to the field of education after working with a kindergarten class inspired her to become passionate about teaching. She was additionally inspired by the support provided by Northfield's administrative team, including Julia Williams and Dr. Gene Loyd, who helped teachers grow and created a familial atmosphere among the staff. Among the many highlights of her career, she was exceptionally proud of transitioning from administration to education. Looking toward the future, Ms. Easterly hopes to continue making an impact with the children at John Pittard Elementary School and foster the promising futures of her own children.
