MILWAUKEE, WI, August 06, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lester L. Carter Jr. with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Carter celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After three years as a registered pharmacist, Mr. Carter went into business for himself as the proud owner and operator of the Carter Drug Store in 1968. Located in the heart of Milwaukee, he dedicated more than 45 years to the business, serving four generations of loyal customers before making the decision to sell the store to Hayat Pharmacy. A pioneer of his time, Mr. Carter was just one of two African Americans to own a drugstore in Milwaukee during this period. Although he faced adversity, he worked diligently to prove his worth and, in time, became a well-known and respected staple in his community.
After selling his business to Hayat Pharmacy in 2015, which was subsequently renamed Milwaukee Pharmacy, Mr. Carter became a health care consultant and herbologist affiliated with the Hayat-Carter Herbal Shoppe in the center of town. He also began consulting on a part-time basis at his alma mater, Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska. During his illustrious career as a pharmacist, Mr. Carter had the pleasure of training many young pharmacy graduates, whom he often reminded that there is no substitute for hard work and dedication.
Recently, Mr. Carter published his first book, titled "Healing the Human Body with God's Remedies." Leveraging his experience in herbology, the book advises readers on cancer, diabetes, arthritis, kidney and liver health, and more. As an expert in the field, which notably focuses on the use of medicinal plants as remedies for various illnesses and conditions, Mr. Carter has, over the years, been responsible for creating several formulas to treat a variety of medical issues such as scalp ringworm and razor bumps.
Born in Omaha, Mr. Carter served for four years in the U.S. Navy between 1950 and 1954. As a medic during the Korean War, he began to consider what he wanted to do after he left the service. Since he had been involved in medicine the entire time that he was in the Navy, he decided to pursue opportunities in the field of pharmacy. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Carter enrolled in college, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy at Creighton University in the school of pharmacy and health professions in Nebraska in 1958.
Mr. Carter has been recognized for his dedication and hard work both in his field and in the community. Most notably, he received an honorary doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He even had the street where his business resided for so many years named after him. Appropriately named "Carter" for his contributions, there was a ceremony held in his honor, which included the attendance of the mayor and various members of city council.
