Marquis Who's Who Honors Evangeline Lois Rimbach with Inclusion in Who's Who in the World

Music educator Ms. Rimbach inspires students for 40 years before retiring from the field

TACOMA, WA, August 06, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Evangeline Lois Rimbach with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Dr. Rimbach celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After a distinguished career in music and education that spanned for over 40 years, Ms. Rimbach retired in 1997 as a professor and chairperson in the department of music at Concordia University Chicago. Acquired by the university in 1964, she was instrumental in the department's success, having chaired the department for eight years and mentored thousands of students. Prior to her tenure in Chicago, Ms. Rimbach spent five years as a music instructor at California Concordia College in Oakland, California, between 1957 and 1962 and one year as a vocal music instructor at Goodwin Junior High School in Redwood City, California, from 1956 until 1957.

As a musician, many of Ms. Rimbach's editions of Johann Kuhnau's Cantatas were performed in Alden Biesen, Belgium, during the 1990s. She was also honored when six volumes and six CDs were produced as the result of her dissertation of the Church Cantatas of Johann Kuhnau. Some of Ms. Rimbach's other inspiring creative works have included contributions to "Keywords in Church Music" in 2004 and "Thine the Amen" in 2005.

Civically, Ms. Rimbach made her mark as a senior choir member at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest from 1964 to 1997. She was also active on the board of directors of the Civic Symphony of Oak Park-River Forest between 1974 and 1980 and was a local concert program committee chairperson and program annotator from 1976 until 1980. In retirement, Ms. Rimbach began serving as the editor of Grace Notes, a newsletter published by the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. She served in that capacity until 2011. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Rimbach also contributed numerous articles to various professional journals and columns in several local newspapers.

As a way to continue supporting the arts, Ms. Rimbach endows the Rimbach Scholarship for Students from Myanmar. The scholarship enables Burmese students to pursue graduate degrees at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Hong Kong. From 1969 until 1970, she received a postdoctoral fellowship from the American Association of University Women, and a second fellowship from Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Munich (DAAD) during 1980. Years later, Ms. Rimbach was also honored with a Faithful Servant Award from the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians.

Ms. Rimbach first took an interest in music in the first grade, when she began taking piano lessons. Her father was a Lutheran pastor who had a wonderful singing voice and regularly expressed it during the liturgy. Likewise, her mother was also an organist and choir director for many years. Needless to say, music was a huge influence during her upbringing. Receiving numerous scholarships after high school, Ms. Rimbach was accepted to Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Washington, where she spent her first two years of study. She subsequently transferred to Valparaiso University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1954. Continuing her schooling, she earned a Master of Arts in music in 1956 and a Doctor of Philosophy in music in 1967 at Eastman School of Music.

To support her musical career, Ms. Rimbach has been a member of the American Musicological Society and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. She is also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, where she was recognized with a Rose of Honor Award in 1987, a Rose of Dedication Award in 1997 and a Rose of Constancy Award.
