A licensed marriage and family therapist and retired college professor and counselor, Dr. Linda C. Huntimer draws upon her extensive expertise as the current owner and therapist at Your Bridge to The Future. As a licensed person and executive wellness coach and family therapist, in Los Altos, CA., she assists patients who have been recently diagnosed with cancer in navigating and taking control of their futures as a nationally-certified integrative oncology cancer navigator. Prior to establishing Your Bridge to The Future, Dr. Huntimer worked as a counselor and professor for Foothill-De Anza Community College between 1973-2006.
Although she initially wanted to pursue a career in medicine, she found herself dealing with violent headaches and was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Dr. Huntimer underwent various treatments that changed the course of her career. During the earliest years of her career, Dr. Huntimer gained valuable expertise in education as a teaching professional and a pioneer in program development for Mountain View- Los Altos Union High School District, where she was employed during the late 1960's and early 1970's. In a career filled with highlights, she is especially proud of creating the first college program to help adults with learning differences. She cites aiding in the writing of the qualification standards for the State of California for Adults with Learning Disabilities among her greatest professional achievements.
Fortunately, Dr. Huntimer discovered that she was misdiagnosed, but had suffered adverse and lasting effects from her treatments. This experience encouraged her to fight for her own life and for the health and livelihood of others. She was redirected in her robust career and experience as a cancer survivor to focus on mental health and holistic wellness. Along with her role as a therapist at Your Bridge to The Future, she also owned and operated a health food store, The Vitamin Closet, located in Menlo Park, CA. At this site she was a valuable resource to those seeking health through vitamins and supplements as well as a meeting place for groups to discuss their experience with cancer and surviving. Dr. Huntimer continued her quest for mastery in this field and earned her certification as an Integrative Oncology Cancer Navigator from The Smith Institute in Washington D.C.
In pursuit of her teaching/counseling career, Dr. Huntimer earned a Bachelor's of Arts and a Master's of Arts in Education from Arizona State University. Subsequently, she obtained a Master's of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University and a Doctorate of Education focusing in Special Education from University of San Francisco. Dr. Huntimer hopes to enjoy her many years of retirement while continuing to work with and inspire others to find their own health and wellness.
