MT. PLEASANT, SC, August 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce T. "Woody" Caine, PhD, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Bruce T. (Woody) Caine graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia in 1966 with a B.S. in Behavioral Biology. He received his Masters and Ph.D. in Social Psychology and Organizational Behavior from the University of Florida in 1975 and 1976, and participated in a number of post-doctoral programs. A veteran of 26 years of federal service as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer, Colonel Caine specialized in personnel, operations, training, organizational development and leadership education. He taught at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, where he was presented with the William H. Clements Award as the 1979 Distinguished Military Educator. He commanded two Army ROTC battalions, served as the Director of Force Modernization for Fort Riley, KS and as the Inspector General for the 7th Infantry Division and Fort Ord, CA. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, Armed Forces Staff College and the Army War College, and retired from active duty in September, 1992.
During his academic career, Woody has taught a wide range of psychology, leadership, management, and education courses at eight colleges and universities. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Psi Chi and Alpha Phi Omega Honor Societies. He created the first courses in Life Span Developmental Psychology, Marriage and the Family, and Human Sexuality for the USMA in the 1970's, and was the Director of the Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness Program and Professor of the Practice of Human and Organizational Development at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University for 13 years. Following a two-year term as the Vice President for Leadership Development at a consulting firm, Woody returned to teaching full time at Belmont University, serving with the Psychology Department, the Business School, and School of Education until December, 2014. He currently teaches at The Citadel, the South Carolina Military College.
Published in military, academic and organizational journals, Woody has also presented numerous workshops for educators, corporations, and non-profit organizations on personal development and wellness, leadership and followership, diversity, conflict management, organizational change and effectiveness, project management, and strategic planning. Woody is currently an active volunteer at The Vietnam War Experience display at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum where he was recognized as the 2019 Distinguished Volunteer. He previously served in a range of volunteer leadership positions with the Boy Scouts of America, American Red Cross, and Rotary International, and other civic organizations.
Woody is an avid reader, mixing history, philosophy, science and cultural works with fictional works. His hobbies include building military miniatures, body surfing, strength training, and writing. In 2021, he published a book of stories from his military career titled, "Born Lucky: A Slightly Above Average Soldier's Life."
