Subsequent to serving as Senior Pastor of four churches, three in California and one in Indiana; founding Dean and later President of Van Nuys Christian College at the 12,000 member First Baptist Church of Van Nuys and Academic Dean at Southwestern College (now Arizona Christian University) in Phoenix; for the past 36 years, Dr; Nicholas has served as president and professor of theology at Shasta Bible College and Graduate School in Redding, California. Appointed in 1985, he brought with him extensive expertise in higher education, as well as in pastoral ministry. Over the past few decades, Dr. Nicholas has made several significant contributions to the school. In addition to guiding the institution through the accreditation process, under his leadership the 10,000 sq. ft. Jack Hicks Learning Resource Center was constructed debt free, including the Faye Messler library, classroom facilities and administrative offices. He has also expanded the curriculum, added a graduate program and initiated "Truth for Today," a radio broadcast on which he ministers daily as Bible teacher and host. For over twenty-two years he served as an elected member of the Accreditation Commission of the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS), an institutional accreditation agency approved by the U.S Department of Education (USDE), The Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and holds membership in the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) and the American Council on Education (ACE).
Founded in 1970, Shasta Bible College and Graduate School is situated on 55 acres of land, provides campus housing, and offers undergraduate and graduate level courses, as well as distance education.
Apart from his full-time responsibilities at the academic institution, Dr. Nicholas has been the director of the Annual Megaconference on Creation and End-Times Prophecy for the past 17 years. The Conference has offered cooperative venues at 24 Northern California churches. Dr. Nicholas is also the author of several nationally published books and articles including "Foundations of Biblical Inerrancy," "What's A Woman To Do … In The Church," "How To Know Without A Doubt That Heaven Is Your Eternal Home," Contributed to: "Dictionary of PremillenniaI Theology, "The Problem of Abortion" and "The Resurrection: God's Unconditional Guarantee," in the Baptist Bulletin and maintains his own blog.
Dr. Nicholas attained a Bachelor of Arts at Azusa Pacific University in 1963, followed by a Master of Science at the· University of Southern California in 1967. Continuing his studies, he then acquired a Master of Divinity at Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary in 1966, a Master of Theology at Talbot Theological Seminary in 1971, and a Doctor of Theology at Grace Theological Seminary in 1982. Ordained to the Baptist church in 1970, Dr. Nicholas also holds life credentials in secondary and higher education from the University of Southern California and executive director certification from the Association of Christian Schools International.
