She further flourished as a senior process engineer with Sun Oil in Philadelphia from 1995 to 1997, a senior process engineer with Amerada Hess from 1993 to 1995, a senior engineer with Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation from 1991 to 1992 and a technical service process engineer with Mobil Oil from 1989 to 1991. Ms. McKinney began her career in multiple positions with Sun Exploration and Production Company between 1982 and 1989.
Ms. McKinney initially earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas in 1982. A registered professional and chemical engineer, she is additionally certified as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Moreover, Ms. McKinney co-authored and presented a technical paper, titled "AM-02-44: Changes to Maintain FCC Conversion," and published an article about team approaches for an FCC revamp.
Ms. McKinney's honors have included the National Association of Professional Women's VIP Woman of the Year Award in 2011 and 2012, the COP SPIRIT Award in 2010, as a member of the Diversity Network Development Team, the WAVE-Valuing All People Award in 2006 a Lake Charles Refinery Award. She is also featured in Continental Who's Who in 2012, Emerald Who's Who in 2011 and Who's Who in Science and Engineering in 1998. Ms. McKinney was likewise recognized among the Outstanding Young Women of America by the state of Oklahoma in 1987.
Ms. McKinney considers her most notable achievement to have been her footprint in process improvement and process design in manufacturing process engineering.
