Accumulating more than 30 years of professional excellence in occupational therapy, Ms. Stormer has established herself as a leader among her peers. Her extensive background spans positions in private rehabilitation facilities, as well as senior living facilities and area hospitals. Accepting her latest role in 2021 with Mid Columbia Medical Center, Outpatient Hands & Neuro, Acute Care in Oregon, Ms. Stormer continues to showcase her talents in all facets of the field, where she was responsible for one building in the greater Klamath Falls area. Some of Ms. Stormer's noteworthy roles in previous years included positions with Industry Therapy Solutions, Consonus Healthcare, Golden Touch Home Health Care, EmpRes Health Care, Innovative Senior Care/Brookdale Senior Living and Providence. She also maintained several management positions.
To better support her career, Ms. Stormer has contributed professional articles to various publications on such topics as the prevention of cumulative trauma. In the future, she aspires to become more involved in public speaking and to begin mentoring the next generation of therapists. As an extension of her commitments in health care, Ms. Stormer has been a member of the Oregon Occupational Therapy Association and the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. She is also a former board development chairperson of the Oregon Occupational Therapy Association and former board member of the Washington Occupational Therapy Association.
Engaged in various community efforts, Ms. Stormer has volunteered her time with a multitude of civic and nonprofit organizations, as well as schools. She notably volunteered for the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport between 2017 and 2020. She also volunteered her time as a nature guide for the Tyron Creek Nature Park, has been engaged with the Wildlife Care Center, the Portland Audubon and the Nature Conservancy, and sang in numerous choirs. Ms. Stormer has also participated with several nonprofit fundraisers, including the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer's Association, and has worked closely with Lake Oswego High School and Portland Public Schools in various capacities. Among other engagements to her credit, she was a race announcer for the Kent Dragonboat Races and other local events, founded the Pacific Dragon Boat Association, and is a past president of the United States Dragon Boat Federation.
Ms. Stormer studied at Colorado State University, where she acquired a Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy, with distinction in 1986. She also completed an internship at Northwest Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle and completed a second internship at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Denver. Ms. Stormer is a licensed occupational therapist in Washington and Oregon.
For her tireless work ethic, Ms. Stormer received recognition as the Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women. She was also recognized with a Shining Star Award from Infinity Rehab and was featured by CUTV News Radio. Additionally, Ms. Stormer was recognized with a Volunteer of the Year Award from Dragonsports USA.
