Dr. Immoos has worked for decades in the areas of stress management and relaxation therapy using a variety of methods. Her goal has always been to support people who can benefit from managing a range of stressors with individualized programs that integrate scientifically-grounded methods. Having been interested in psychoanalysis, she began her serious studies while a bachelor's student. At the same time, she continued her love of classical singing studies, while minoring in psychology. After studying at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and at California State University, Dr. Immoos began her career as a talented opera singer in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria. In this capacity, she became fascinated with the human voice and its relationship to human emotions. and soon began researching the effects of music on human emotion. Dr. Immoos later became a part-time assistant, psychotherapist and assistant trainer at the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center in Lanzendorf, Lower Austria.

During her master's studies, Dr. Immoos worked as an intern as a music therapist at the Psychiatric University Clinic in Basel, Switzerland, where she had the opportunity to experiment with the effects of a new set of adjunct relaxation exercises based primarily upon deep breathing and guided imagery. Having completed further research for her master's degree, Dr. Immoos began working with a team of educators on projects related to the implementation of similar methods in primary school grades 1-6. In 1991, Dr. Immoos founded the Center for Psychology of Voice in Zürich, Switzerland, where she performed further research in this area with child, adolescent, and later, with adult cohorts. Concurrently, she worked as a freelance concert singer, as a choral conductor for Community Church Choirs, as a composer of choral and chamber music, as a teacher for Peoples' Institutes of Higher Education, and a freelance voice coach for the members of the children's and adjunct choirs at the Zürich Opera. As a qualified professional, Dr. Immoos holds a Master of Arts from the University of Innsbruck and a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology from the University of Vienna in 1993. She also conducted a private practice for psychological counseling in Zurich, Switzerland, where she specialized in working with clients with a variety of problems, expanding her original methodology with cognitive behavioral therapy. Specialized work with clients suffering from a specific type of severe emotional dysregulation during this period, Dr. Immoos was able to draw on her background in psychosomatics, relaxation therapy, and stress coping. This laid the foundation for the implementation of a range of enhancements to her basic methodology in treatment of a variety of mental health problems that include a negative perception of other people, triggering extreme anger or anxiety reactions, as well as eating and substance use disorders.

After having returned to the U.S. in 2003, Dr. Immoos continued expanding her research and practice of these methods while working in state service. In 2014, she developed a statewide psychology internship program, for which she has developed a wide range of diagnostic and treatment training materials that are utilized by mental health providers statewide. She notably co-authored an article titled "Reduced Bone Strength and Muscle Force in Women 27 Years After Anorexia Nervosa" for the International Journal of Endocrinology. Dr. Immoos is most proud to have organized a gala concert to raise money for refugees in Switzerland. In order to remain aware of developments in her field, Dr. Immoos has maintained her affiliation with the Organization for Parents of Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, the Voice Foundation, the Swiss Federation of Psychologists, the California Board of Psychology, the California Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. Looking toward the future, she plans to retire from her profession.
