SAN ANTONIO, TX, August 16, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Joyce Carol Norene with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Norene celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Norene is an adjunct professor who has been a faculty member at Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio, Texas, since 2009 and the Baptist University of the Americas in San Antonio since 2020. She teaches various courses in English, American literature and education, as well as a course in research writing methods. Dr. Norene previously taught for five years at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio between 2009 and 2013. She also garnered a reputation as a high school English teacher at several schools throughout Tennessee and Georgia for three decades between the years of 1967 and 2008.
Aspiring to become a motivational speaker and advocate for public school education, Dr. Norene notes that more than 50% of teachers leave the profession during their first years. To alleviate this problem, she wants to present a positive picture of careers in education. She hopes to accomplish this by coaching and encouraging aspiring educators.
Dr. Norene is a member of the Singing Women of Texas, a Christian choir comprised of members devoted to ministry and music. Notably, there are eight local chapters throughout the southern region of Texas.
Dr. Norene's father was a minister, and her mother was a college professor. She also had several other family members who taught professionally, including her grandparents. Never considering doing anything else for a living, Dr. Norene loved the idea of teaching, and after high school, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English at Union University in 1967. Subsequently, she graduated with a Master of Arts in English education and a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from the University of Georgia in 1994 and 2004, respectively. In addition, Dr. Norene holds certification in qualitative research through the University of Georgia.
To further serve her career in academia, Dr. Norene is a member of the American Association of University Women. She was named Teacher of the Year by a high school football team at one of the schools where she worked, which was an unexpected but appreciated honor. In addition, she has been ranked by Rate Your Professors and was included in Who's Who of American High School Teachers for 20 consecutive years.
