STEVENSVILLE, MD, August 17, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ric Conn has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Conn is an award-winning local artist and leader in the industry who has gained international recognition as a "Master of Contemporary Art" in recent years for his work. Transferring his thoughts and ideas onto canvas in his home studio in Stevensville, he has excelled as the owner of Ric Conn Studios since 2005, with which he has produced many fine works of art with oil, acrylic, gouache, charcoal and ink. Prior to devoting his time and attention entirely to his artwork, Mr. Conn flourished for nearly 30 years as a graphic arts professional for Anne Arundel and Prince George's County Governments.
As an expressionist, Mr. Conn has been renowned for addressing inequality and other social issues inflicted on women through his paintings. In fact, his traditional and contemporary works of art are all based on this passion, which vividly narrates his perception of society in the Western culture. Portraying both courage and beauty in every woman, his modern twist on expressionism is very evident. In his community, Mr. Conn has supported various initiatives, including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Mr. Conn's artwork has been notably exhibited at the Grimandi Gallery in New York City as well as online through Saatchi Art and Singulart. He also recently participated in an event titled "Paraiso" hosted at M.A.D.S. Gallery in Milan, Italy, in July and August of 2021. To support his creative endeavors as a professional artist, Mr. Conn is a member of the Kent Island Federation of Art, with which he once served as the president of the board of directors from 2007 to 2008 and a board member from 2006 to 2008, and the Maryland Federation of Art.
Picking up the paintbrush for the first time at the age of five, Mr. Conn began self-teaching himself about the use of light and shading, and quickly developed a knack for freehand drawing. After graduating from high school, he studied at Anne Arundel Community College, earning an Associate of Art in multimedia in 1975. Mr. Conn additionally completed coursework at the Maryland Institute of Art and Corcoran College of Art.
Honoring his many achievements in the field, Mr. Conn has received myriad awards. More recently, he was presented with the Collectors Choice Award from Art Tour International Magazine in 2021. Among other recognitions, he was honored as the Artivist of the Year for 2019 and 2020 and the Artist of the Decade every year between 2010 and 2020 by Art Tour International Magazine.
