After losing his father at just 10 years old, Mr. Marcho was driven to help others through similar difficult times. In 2013, he began his career as a funeral assistant for the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, Clarks Summit, PA where he assisted in many funeral service transactions. Moreover, Mr. Marcho collaborated with funeral directors on removals, composed obituaries in print and online and carried out body preparations for other associated firms.
Throughout the span of his career, Mr. Marcho gained valuable expertise in the field as a lab technician for the Funeral Services Education Department, where he worked directly with funeral service professors Tony Moore and Patricia Warner, and as a funeral trainee, director, and embalmer for Semian Funeral Home in Taylor, PA. More recently, he began working as a funeral director for Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. Tunkhannock, PA and Sheldon Funeral Homes. As director, Mr. Marcho performs all tasks associated with the role, including preparing and embalming loved ones for funeral services, preparing facilities for viewings and services, overseeing bookkeeping and finances and maintaining the building and equipment.
With Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Mr. Marcho prepares and restores the deceased for their families, ensures that the deceased and their families are respected throughout the process, oversees cremations and guarantees that all of his work remains as subtle as possible so that families can pay their respects to their loved ones in private without any stress. In addition to his work with the funeral home, he excels as a deputy for the Wyoming County Coroner's Office, where he has assisted in many death investigations and investigated suicides, homicides, vehicle accidents and murder-suicides.
An expert in his field, Mr. Marcho holds an Associate of Arts in mortuary science and funeral services from Northampton Community College. He also has an EDRS Online Death Registration through the Pennsylvania Department of Health, a Dodge Company Air Brushing and Cosmetic Techniques certification, an embalming and restorative art techniques certification, a certificate of completion in burial vaults and a crematory operators' certificate. In light of his professional excellence, he was honored with the National Funeral Directors Pursuit of Excellence Award two years in a row. Though his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud to have brought a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial to his hometown called The Wall That Heals. Looking ahead, Mr. Marcho intends to continue serving his community in as many ways as he can.
