Mr. Seelman is the Managing Partner of the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, currently the seventh-largest law firm in the United States. He focuses his practice on antitrust law, securities law and complex commercial litigation. At his law firm, Mr. Seelman also holds several key firm-wide positions, including the chair of the antitrust group, a member of the compensation committee, a member of the lateral acquisition committee, and a member of the diversity and inclusion committee.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Seelman has been an Adjunct Professor of Antitrust and Competition Law at the University of Denver's Sturm College of Law since 2008. In accounting for his standout success as a lawyer, Mr. Seelman credits his abiding passion for helping his clients, mentoring younger lawyers and giving back to the legal community.
In his formative years as a young law student, Mr. Seelman had the privilege of holding two internships which reinforced his respect for the law and to maintain a strong work ethic, first as a judicial intern for Chief Judge Donald D. Alsop of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota and then as a legal intern with the Office of the General Counsel of 3M Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduation, Mr. Seelman garnered his antitrust experience at a number of regional and national law firms including Grimshaw Harring (n/k/a Spencer Fane), Ford & Harrison, and Lathrop & Gage (n/k/a Lathrop GPM).
An expert in his primary field of antitrust law, Mr. Seelman has been invited to speak on various panels and has published a number of written works in magazines and journals throughout his career.
To remain involved in his field, he is involved with the Denver Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation and a Fellow at the Wisconsin Bar Foundation. Mr. Seelman is also the past chair of the Antitrust Subsection of the Colorado Bar Association and the past president of the non-resident Lawyer Division of the Wisconsin Bar Association. He is a current member of the pricing conduct committee and the cartel and criminal practice committee of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association. He is also a current member of the Antitrust and Trade Regulation Section of the International Bar Association.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Seelman obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law, cum laude. He has been admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh, Ninth and Tenth circuits, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the State Bar of Colorado.
As a testament to his stellar reputation as a lawyer, Mr. Seelman has been lauded with the highest possible ratings from Martindale-Hubbell and Super Lawyers. Additionally, he was distinguished as the Barrister's Best Antitrust Lawyer by Law Week Colorado in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020.
