As a child, Mr. Sanford was greatly inspired by his father, who was involved in the banking industry. At the age of 17, he began working at his father's bank during summer breaks, afternoons and weekends. In college, Mr. Sanford initially decided to study political science before noticing the struggle of small businesses during the 2008 financial crisis.
Mr. Sanford subsequently changed majors and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Georgia and a Master of Business Administration in management from Kennesaw State University. He began his career as a Loss Share Accountant at Hamilton State Bank. Mr. Sanford also worked as a Credit Analyst for State Bank & Trust Company and the Community Bank of Pickens County.
Later, he would be promoted to SBA Loan Officer aat Community Bank of Pickens County, closing $13M in SBA loans his first year as a lender. He would eventually rise to SBA Manager at Community Bank of Pickens County and manage a $110M loan portfolio.
Mr. Sanford currently excels as a Vice President at South State Bank. In his career, he strives to help small business owners reach their goals and navigate the business landscape. Primarily collaborating with small businesses throughout the southeastern United States, Mr. Sanford offers business loans up to five million dollars in financing.
Throughout his career, Mr. Sanford has been incredibly proud of the accolades that he has received. He is certified as a Chartered Financial Analyst. In 2020, he was recognized by Coleman Publishing as the top SBA lender in the country under 40. Mr. Sanford has also maintained his professional affiliation with the CFA Society of Atlanta, the Atlanta Track Club, the Community Bankers Association of Georgia and the City of Ellijay Downtown Development Authority.
Over the years, Mr. Sanford has attributed his professional success to his upbringing, and his high school coaches who taught him how to overcome adversity. In addition, his mother instilled within him an appreciation for life-long learning. In the coming years, Mr. Sanford plans to continue advancing in the banking industry while further helping small business owners in rural America.
